Scenography and Lucifer mask for Satanvatnið by Selma Reynisdóttir.

The Heavy-Metal Ballet Satan’s Lake is Iceland’s first original ballet and plays on the cliches found in both art forms. The piece takes us down to the depths of Satan’s Lake where we get introduced to a group of mer-beasts who are about to start a regular day in the hellish depths. A regular day involves activities like; making sure their claws are well polished, synchronized swimming and performing epic solo’s for each other. However, right from the day's very first swim-strokes, we sense that this is not one of those regular days. One by one, the mer-beasts start to notice unfamiliar noises, originating from the surface. These strange noises interrupt, and threaten the mer-beast life. Little by little they figure out that they must find a way to work together and exterminate the threat.
